The Telexc Bimetallic Parallel Groove Clamp (CAPG Series) is a non-tension electrical connector designed for reliable parallel connection of aluminum-to-aluminum or aluminum-to-copper conductors. It is widely used in overhead transmission and distribution networks, substations, and service lines.

The clamp features a hot-compressed Cu-Al (CUPAL) bimetallic plate on the tap side, ensuring excellent electrical conductivity while preventing galvanic corrosion between dissimilar metals. Cross-grooved clamp channels, pressure pads, and spring washers provide uniform contact pressure, high mechanical pull-out strength, and stable performance under temperature variations.

Manufactured from high-strength, corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy with Grade 8.8 hot-dip galvanized or stainless steel fasteners, the CAPG Series PG Clamp delivers long service life, low contact resistance, and consistent current-carrying capacity without reducing conductor performance.

International Standard Compliance

  • Bimetal Plate: Hot-forged Cu-Al (CUPAL) sheet

  • Fasteners: Grade 8.8 hot-dip galvanized steel or stainless steel

  • Washers: Spring/Belleville type for pressure retention

Mechanical & Electrical Performance

  • Slip strength: ≥ 10% of reference conductor tensile strength

  • No reduction in conductor current-carrying capacity

  • Connector resistance ≤ 1.1 times equivalent conductor length

  • Temperature rise at joint ≤ reference conductor temperature

Installation Guide

  1. Clean conductor surfaces and apply oxide-inhibiting compound.

  2. Place the main and tap conductors into their respective parallel grooves.

  3. Ensure the correct positioning of the bimetallic copper insert on the Cu side.

  4. Tighten bolts evenly using recommended torque values.

  5. Verify firm grip and uniform contact before energizing.

Bimetallic parallel groove clamp for Al-Cu conductors offers high strength, low resistance, and is IEC compliant.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q1: What is the primary function of the TX Series Bimetallic Parallel Groove Clamp?
The TX Series CAPG clamp is designed to create a secure, non-tension parallel electrical connection between aluminum-to-aluminum or aluminum-to-copper conductors in overhead and distribution networks.

Q2: Is this clamp suitable for aluminum to copper connections?
Yes. The clamp includes a hot-forged bimetallic Cu-Al plate on the tap side, which ensures stable conductivity and prevents galvanic corrosion when connecting copper and aluminum conductors.

Q3: Does the clamp reduce the current-carrying capacity of the conductor?
No. The TX Series PG Clamp is engineered so that electrical resistance and temperature rise at the joint are equal to or lower than the reference conductor, ensuring no reduction in ampacity.

Q4: Is the clamp considered a tension or non-tension connector?
It is a non-tension connector, intended for electrical continuity rather than mechanical load bearing.

Q5: What type of conductors can be used with this clamp?
The clamp is compatible with bare aluminum conductors (AAC), aluminum conductor steel-reinforced (ACSR), copper conductors, and jumper conductors.

Q6: How does the clamp maintain stable contact under temperature changes?
Spring (Belleville) washers are used to maintain consistent contact pressure, compensating for thermal expansion and contraction of conductors.

Q7: What materials are used for corrosion protection?
The connector body is made from corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy, while fasteners are available in hot-dip galvanized steel or stainless steel. An oxide-inhibiting compound further enhances protection.

Q8: Is special tooling required for installation?
No special tools are required. Standard torque wrenches or spanners are sufficient, making installation quick and field-friendly.

Q9: Are different conductor size combinations available?
Yes. The TX Series covers a wide range of aluminum and copper conductor cross-sections, suitable for various LV and MV applications.

Q10: Can this product be customized?
Yes. Telexc offers OEM and customization services including size range, fastener material, surface treatment, and branding.

Q11: Are samples available for evaluation?
Yes. Samples can be provided free of charge; customers only need to cover the freight cost.

Q12: Is there a minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
There is no MOQ for the first order.
