Types of ADSS Trunnion Assemblies

1. Single ADSS Trunnion Assembly

Application: Used to support one ADSS cable on poles or similar structures in tangent locations. Suitable for low-voltage environments where controlled support, cable protection, and simplified installation are required.

2. Double ADSS Trunnion Assembly

Application: Used to support two ADSS cables on the same structure. Suitable for routes requiring compact double-cable placement, organized fiber distribution, and reliable support with reduced installation cost.

3. Bolted Trunnion Assembly

Application: Installed using machine bolts or square head bolts through the pole or structure. Suitable where direct mechanical fastening is preferred for a firm and permanent support point.

4. Banded Trunnion Assembly

Application: Installed using stainless steel banding around the pole. Suitable where drilling is not preferred or where fast field installation is required.

5. Standoff Trunnion Assembly

Application: Used with fiberglass standoff mounting arrangements to provide cable offset from the structure. Suitable for project-specific clearance and routing requirements.

Construction & Materials

The TX-TA assembly is engineered for durable outdoor support and efficient installation.

Main components include:

• Body: High-strength cast aluminum
• Keeper: Cast aluminum matching upper clamping section
• Bushings / Inserts: UV-resistant color-coded EPDM rubber
• Clamp bolt: Steel fastening hardware
• Mounting hardware: Compatible with 5/8″ square head bolt, double arming bolt, or stainless steel banding
• Optional standoff mounting: Fiberglass standoff compatible, depending on configuration

The cast aluminum body offers structural strength and corrosion resistance, while the EPDM inserts cushion the cable and help maintain a secure grip without damaging the jacket.

Installation Guide

1. Confirm the ADSS cable outside diameter and select the proper TX-TA insert range.
2. Choose the required mounting style: bolted, banded, or standoff.
3. For bolted installation, drill the pole for a 5/8-inch bolt at the selected attachment point.
4. Insert the square head bolt or double arming bolt through the washer, trunnion body, and pole hole.
5. Tighten with a flat washer, a lock washer, and a square nut to approximately 40 lbf-ft.
6. For banded installation, fix the assembly to the pole using stainless steel banding at the required position.
7. During stringing, the assembly may be used as a pull-through support with the bushings removed, provided that angle and structural limits are followed.
8. After stringing and sagging, open the assembly and place the EPDM bushings into the body and keeper.
9. Position the cable into the bushing groove and close the assembly firmly.
10. Hand-tighten the clamp bolt, then tighten to 15 lbf-ft.
11. For double-trunnion assemblies, repeat the process for the second cable channel.
12. Check that bushings are flush with the casting surface and that the final line angle does not exceed installation limits.

Important Notes:

• Recommended for ADSS cables with polyethylene jackets in low-voltage environments
• Not intended for high-voltage environments requiring tracking-resistant cable designs
• Maximum final installation angle: 22° total / 11° per side
• Maximum stringing angle: 15° total / 7.5° per side
