The Telexc JJCD Grounding Series Insulation Piercing Clamps are engineered to provide safe, reliable, and maintenance-free grounding connections for overhead insulated conductors. These clamps are widely used in distribution networks for grounding protection, temporary electrical inspection, and earthing of ABC conductors. Their design ensures that installers achieve a controlled, secure connection without stripping cable insulation.
The 1 kV JJCD Grounding Clamps are designed for low-voltage overhead insulated conductors used in residential and commercial distribution lines.
These clamps offer safe grounding during electrical maintenance, fault protection, and temporary inspection.
Performance & Reliability
• Rated for 1 kV overhead insulated systems
• UV-resistant, glass-fiber-reinforced polymer body
• Bimetallic contact teeth suitable for both aluminum and copper
• Watertightness tested at 6 kV for 30 minutes
• Safe live-line installation using potential-free bolts
How They Work
• When the bolts are tightened, the contact teeth pierce the cable insulation and form a consistent electrical connection.
• Shear-head nuts guarantee the correct torque.
• No conductor stripping is required, reducing installation time and safety risks.
Installation Guide (JJCD Grounding Series)
-
Prepare the Conductor
• Ensure the insulated conductor is clean and free from surface contaminants.
• No stripping of insulation is required. -
Open the Clamp
• Loosen the bolts until the conductor can be inserted freely into the connector slot.
• Verify that the earthing ring (for 10 kV models) is properly aligned. -
Insert the Conductor
• Position the main insulated conductor inside the clamp channel.
• Ensure the cable is fully seated and correctly aligned with the piercing blades. -
Tighten the Bolts
• Begin tightening the bolts evenly using a suitable wrench.
• Continue tightening until the shear-head bolts break off automatically, indicating correct torque application. -
Verify Contact and Sealing
• Ensure the clamp is fully closed and the piercing blades have established proper electrical contact.
• Confirm that sealing caps are securely in place to maintain waterproofing. -
Final Safety Check
• Inspect the connection for proper alignment, tightness, and insulation integrity.
• Ensure grounding leads and accessories are attached according to system requirements. -
Commissioning
• Once installation is confirmed, the grounding clamp is ready for operational use in temporary grounding, maintenance work, or system inspection.
